Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon 14” High Resolution Laptop

Lenovo Thinkpad series has becoming their number one portfolio for many years and since then it’s always becoming their biggest business on the laptop market. So, if they are planning the refresh this model with the new version, I think they do the right thing here. The X1 Carbon is one of many line ups that Lenovo introduced in this year. It comes with lighter, thinner and even more powerful performance than before. It uses Intel Core I7 with 6th gen generation that promises you an amazing experience in such a good price. You are going to get the best ultrabook in under 2000 dollars on this one.

Choosing a good machine is not something that easy to do especially when there are so many great products coming on this year. That is why we are going to take look into this one closely in hope you could make the consideration about it. On this case, I am going to review the model with Core I7 6th gen generation and not the Kaby Lake version. To make it easier for you to understand, lets we jump into the article.

Design As Biggest Selling Point

Yeah, the design is truly looks very good especially with some kinds of carbon finishing on the material. The body is bit thinner and bit lighter in comparable with the previous model. The thickness is only around 2.49 pounds with great weight. The machine itself is available on silver and black color, but I really recommend you to get the black version since it looks amazing with soft touch fixture. The texture has slightly rubbery touch and comfortable when you are holding with both hands.

Like I said before, one of the bestselling points here is located on the design. I try to make the comparable with the Apple Macbook Pro 13 inch and its bit lighter. I think it’s pretty impressive since there are not too many laptops that able to do this case.

Display And Durability

Thinkpad X1 2The display is also impressive with the maximum resolution at 2560×1440 in 14 inch display. The image quality is really fantastic and full with detail. It is able to produce the vibrant and sharp images although the result is not as bright as I expect. Luckily, the color reproduction is not a big problem where it can reproduce more than 100 percent of gamut color. The overall quality is impressive for the price.

The name of Carbon its title is not only for marketing, but the product really passes the MIL-Specs tests that prove the machine is avoided getting damages from shocks, vibration, and even the extreme temperature. It’s also tested with Lenovo’s drop and bump test and people can expect an amazing performance in term of quality.

Keyboard And Touchpad Experience

The system features of backlit keyboard that becoming of typist’s dream. The keys come in the 1.5 millimeters travel and much better in comparable with Zenbook 3 or Macboo 13” Pro. Although the key travel is around 2 millimeters, the Carbon still compensate the users with 65 grams actuation force and allows us to get the excellent feedback during the touch. The deck itself is very soft and making the typing experience is extremely comfortable in many situations.

Like many others Thinkpad products, the X1 also features of buttonless touchpad and TrackPoint pointing for navigation. I have tested both of these methods and I prefer to have the TrackPoint one since the movement is more precise without needed to lift my hands from the home row. However, just stick with 4 x 2.2 inch touchpad which provides good experience. It supports of multi gestures from Windows 10 such as four finger tap and three finger swipes. Stick with any method that you think as the best.
